Three free chances to try GLBT square dancing!
Join the fun! The El Camino Reelers (the GLBT and friends square dance club of the Silicon Valley area) will be starting a new beginner class on Wednesday, August 20th. The class meets each Wednesday night from 7:30 - 9:30 pm in Palo Alto.
You can try out “GLBT and friends” square dancing for free at any the following three intro classes:

So I’ve had several folks that cannot visit and share their time, offer Home Depot or Lowe’s gift cards and let me tell you–how helpful!!! And of course, we always accept cash!
Did you know, it was over $10,000 just to get the keys to move in, much less what it’s taking to clean it out and create what’s wanted–dry wall, tools, supplies, mud, paint, flooring, etc. On that note: those volunteers that have been super active in helping me keep this organized (whether from afar or at the space) are the one’s getting their suggestions in–so if you want to see something at the space (I’ve heard “padded room”…puurrrr), then help out, get involved, or solicit sponsors to pay for it so we can create it!! We want those things too, but they’re costly and we need supporters. If you’re unable–think of folks or businesses that are able.

KAYAKING Saturday, August 2nd Cannery Row Views from the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
Lavender Events is excited to announce a new kayak adventure to add to our outdoor adventure series exploring Cannery Row from the Monterey Bay National National Marine Sanctuary. This Sanctuary encompasses 5322 square miles of ocean and supports one of the planet’s most biologically diverse ecosystems.
From Cannery Row we’ll enter our scenic marine sanctuary. As we float above the flourishing kelp beds we’ll search for marine mammals such as sea otters, harbor seals and sea lions. The protected and historical cove that lines Cannery Row is an ideal site for those new to the sport of kayaking and who are comfortable being in ocean swell and/or chop (think seasickness).
We will stop for lunch and be back on shore by 2:30pm.

We are pleased to present Eileen Ross from Project Outlet. She will talk about this vital organization for LGBTQQ teens. Since 1997 Project Outlet has supported and empowered local youth by providing counseling & community, leadership training & advocacy, and outreach awareness. PWG is hosting a DVD screening of Women’s Power and a fundraiser for the Suppressed Histories Archives. Women’s Power is an eye-opening documentary about women whose role in history has been either minimized or deleted from standard history books. Since 1970, Max Dashu has researched and photographed images of women in all walks of life such as chiefs, priestesses, medicine women, architects, doctors, warriors, and scientists. She has created and shown this slideshow presentation, which has evolved through out the years, to groups, community centers and Universities. DVD will be available for sale. Tickets: $5-$15, (proceeds go to Suppressed Histories Archives) No one turned away for lack of funds.
August 23,2008 Sisters in business Women today have many careers that span the alphabet from Architects to Zoologist. PWG is proud to showcase 10 lesbian owned businesses or lesbians in business. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear from our sisters. Participants will have 10 minutes to talk about their profession and share the challenges and joys of working in today’s market place.
