The next “Dykes on Hikes” hike will be this Sunday, July 13, at Tilden Park.
To make finding each other easier, and to facilitating carpooling, we’re going to meet at the corner of Rose and Martin Luther King, by the benches outside of Fatapple’s on Rose Street (which also happens to be right by the Rose Street House of Music House Concerts). It’s right on the 79 bus line, just a couple blocks from a lot of other bus lines, and 1 mile from both the North Berkeley and Berkeley BART stations.
We’ll be meeting there between 11am and 11:15am. Then driving up to Tilden Park (if you prefer to meet us up there at 11:30am, please let me know).
Depending on which hike everyone wants to do, we’ll drive up to the Lone Oak picnic area (from Grizzly/Spruce/Wildcat Canyon intersection, take Canon Drive up, R on Central Park, left into the Lone Oak Road parking lot, past the field to the Lone Oak picnic table).
Hike will probably be Meadows Canyon Trail, up Curran trail to Inspiration Point, then Nimitz way to Laurel Canyon, down to Loop Road. 3 1/2 to 4 mile loop with hills. Or, if it’s hot or smoky, or if most of the hikers prefer, we could take a mellower shady hike instead.
After the hike, we’ll head over to the Cactus Taqueria on Solano for lunch.

I won’t be reachable Saturday evening, though, hosting and performing in the Rose Street House of Music 10-year Anniversary Concert. “Dykes on Hikes” is an informal social & fitness/exercise/recreation hiking group for lesbian & bi womyn. Let’s go hiking in Tilden, Redwood, Joaquin Miller, and other East Bay parks! Pace at 2-3 miles an hour (depends on steepness of hills), hikes range from 3-10 miles. Some hikes may be followed by a picnic potluck or lunch out (TBA). No smoking / perfume / pets on the hikes please.
All hikes are informal, and all hikers take full responsibility for themselves, and accept/assume their own risks, not holding other “dykes on hikers” liable for any injuries, damages, or losses of any kind. Organizers are not responsible for the carpools, and it’s suggested that carpool passengers chip in to cover drivers’ gas (usually just $1-2 per person for Tilden hikes).

Age play can allow folks to shed the demands of their adult life and be nurtured, or explore discipline in a very power-steep environment, or perhaps even tap into some very taboo scenes. Whether you’re the one regressing or the one in control, come find out what age play is all about and explore the possibilities. We’ll discuss various forms of play, negotiation techniques, scene ideas, props and costuming, as well as how to move in and out of space, and what to do if things get off-track.
Madame Gina Grant is actively-involved in many different communities in the leather scene, both here in San Francisco and across the country. Age Play is particularly close to her heart with both her professional and personal playmates as a deeply-touching and intimate form of play. What a week! We’ve had folks stopping by and pitching in every single day: be it to sweep, smile and leave, or to hang dry wall for hours on end. ALL of it is terribly helpful and really adds up quick. Please know that we need all of our members to give of what they are able.
As always, food is Mmmmmm, sugar is Mmmmmm! Thank you for the donations and well wishes. Anyone willing to provide Starbucks on tap?! Hahaaa
Thursday we were lucky to have the attention and energy of the South Bay TNG group. They canceled what is typically their movie night at Edges and instead we had lots of young energy sprawled all over the space: painting, mudding and more. What a great site to see our local 18-35 y/o group rally together and get their hands dirty with us.
Many of the same faces come in, getting off work early and stopping by, coming over on their lunch breaks, dropping off dinner for us on their way home, stopping by at the end of the day simply to help cleanup. And there are those that can only stop by once or twice. And let me tell you: both are vital to making this project come together!
We’ll be doing more later day work this coming week!
