Are you surfing the internet, chatting on lesbian forums like Craigslist, and/or physically active in the women’s community?
LavenderEvents.com is looking for volunteers to reach out to our extended community to build a larger network of women.
We are looking for women of all ages, ethnicities, and regions to volunteer to either network on the internet or at other women’s events.
What do you get for your time?
- A good reason to approach people to talk about something important.
- An opportunity to help build a stronger women’s community network.
- Gratification that your time is helping others overcome the isolation our community sometimes feels.
- An opportunity to pay forward the positive impact you’ve experienced with Lavender Events.
- Knowing that with a stronger community we can fight important issues like Proposition 8.
What are we looking for? You only need a couple of these to qualify:
- Great communication skills.
- Ability to do outreach in the community to expand our email lists and online calendar usage.
- Effective planning, organization, and project coordination skills.
- Graphic design & promotional materials assistance.
- Regularly check and monitor web pages to validate links and grammar.
- Cultivate positive relationships within the LGBT Community.
Are you ready to make your mark? Then this volunteer gig is a great fit for you!

You’ve GOT to be curious….give in a check out this show that everyone is talking about!! Only 2 more weekends for theatre Q’s My Strange Nation, the Music of Susan Werner. Kevin Kirby of the Palo Alto Weekly called My Strange Nation “smart” and “feisty”. He goes on to say “My Strange Nation is a funny, well-assembled, sometimes touching look at Susan Werner’s songbook. Given that Werner is hardly a household name, it will be interesting to see if the show finds an audience. The performances and the material deserve it.” Check out the full review at _http://www.paloaltoonline.com/weekly/story.php?story_id=9300_ (http://www.paloaltoonline.com/weekly/story.php?story_id=9300) . Janis Ian has inspired generations of fans, and in “Society’s Child: My Autobiography,” the Grammy Award winner shares the fascinating story of her life in music. In this moving memoir, Ian tells the story behind her controversial 1966 hit “Society’s Child” (written when the musician was just 15 years old) and the equally acclaimed 1975 smash “At Seventeen,” which earned two Grammys and five nominations.
Janis Ian is a Grammy Award-winning songwriter, singer, multi-instrumental musician, columnist, and science fiction fan-turned-author. She had a highly successful singing career in the 1960s and 1970s, and has continued recording into the 21st century. Ian has been a regular columnist for and continuing contributor to the LGBT magazine “The Advocate.”
This Booksmith sponsored event will take place at The Booksmith (1644 Haight Street in San Francisco). For further information, call 415-863-8688 or visit www.booksmith.com If you can’t attend this event and would like to order a signed copy of the author’s new book, please email or phone our store.
