Big Obama rally today in downtown Oakland

— admin @ 1:00 pm

Whether you’ve been involved before today or are just now getting involved or just have curiosity in the current state of political activism going on in the East Bay:
BIG OBAMA RALLY
TODAY
SNOW PARK (@20th & Harrison)
NOON to 4 pm
PHONE BANKING with others, Speeches on the propositions, voter registration (tomorrow’s the deadline), Obama gear for sale and more….
I will be selling the last of my inventory of RISE UP FOR OBAMA T- shirts - get ‘em now @ $20 (printed on both sides), AND i’ve got some bumper stickers @ $2 each. If you’ve been looking for other t-shirts and Obama buttons, there will be hella vendors there with them, too!
If you want to phone bank, get there with your cell phone FULLY CHARGED and enter the fray! They’ll make it very easy for you to contact those undecided voters in the battleground states right now.
The Obama camp just released the figures for September and they are impressive: they picked up 632,000 new donors- the biggest month they’ve ever had in terms of new donors. And, as we’re seeing the YES ON 8 folks using their $10 million more to use distortion and fear right here in California, the Obama campaign needs to keep throwing money for production of the truth-telling ads in the battleground states where McCain’s campaign is getting more dirty than ever. We don’t tend to see these at all in the Bay Area but they are rampant in more rural areas across the country and in the states where it counts these last 16 days.
Please come and meet some wonderful lesbians who’ve been working on the Obama campaign and consider adding your voice to this fight for our lives and our livelihoods.
peace, joey brite

Change can be difficult but it is also a great opportunity to move forward. Since the volunteer steering committee can only do so much we invite the women of PWG to plan an event that will enhance our lives. The possibilities are endless. You and/or your friends could get together to plan a weekend picnic or evening event (local play, movie or visit a local attraction). Tell us your plan and if it fits the Peninsula Women’s Group mission we will assist to make the event a success. Be apart of shaping PWG for the future. Please contact Sandy at satuttle@mindspring.com.
Visit our website www.peninsulawomensgroup.org to check out the calendar for other events that might interest you and to find out more about us. Peninsula Women’s Group is a lesbian drop-in networking group, and we’ve been meeting weekly since 1979. All women are welcome.
Our mission is to provide a safe environment for women to meet other women and participate in small and large group discussions about topics of interest to our community. We also sponsor workshops, educational meetings, potlucks, and just plain fun! The volunteer steering committee members lead informal group discussions, arrange speakers and workshops, and organize game nights, potlucks, holiday parties, and more.
