Kung Pao’s coming up. Round 16! Dec 24-27, in SF’s Chinatown
As always, the performers are a mix of queer and straight. Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (Jewish comedy on Xmas in a Chinese restaurant) is the largest, longest running, most popular Jewish comedy show in the Bay Area. Kung Pao answers the age-old question: What are Jews supposed to do on Xmas? And you don’t have to be Jewish to enjoy it (just have a sense of humor!). It has been written up in the NY Times, La Times, Chicago Tribune, covered by NPR… There are 8 shows over the course of 4 days. David Brenner will headline this year. This will be his 1st performance in SF in over 15 years. Brenner began doing stand up in 1969 and made his national TV debut on The Tonight Show in 1971. He holds the record for the most appearances of any guest on the show: 158 (75 were as a guest host). He appeared on the last live Ed Sullivan Show and was the first comic to appear on Letterman.
