Sweeney Ridge and Mori Point
I’m leading a hike for the SF Hiking Club (www.sfhiking.com) that you’re welcome to come on:
Leader: Peter McCluskey (650)967-3359 pcm@rahul.net. Meet at the trailhead at 9:45. Or to carpool, meet in San Francisco at 9:00am under the Safeway sign at Market & Dolores. Depart 9:15. Rating: Moderate, 10 miles, 2000 feet elevation gain. This hike takes us along a ridge with panoramic views, to the site where the Portola Expedition first viewed the San Francisco Bay. We descend to roads in Pacifica and to Pacifica State Beach. We’ll explore the beach a bit, then follow a bike path near the shore until we reach a side trail which takes us to the top of a cliff overlooking Mori Point. We return up the short but steep Mori Ridge trail. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Bring: water, lunch, layered clothing (important if windy!). Canceled in event of light or heavy rain. Directions to the trailhead: From the South Bay, take 280N and exit at the Skyline/Pacifica/Highway off ramp. Continue north through 2 traffic signals. At the 3rd signal, turn left on to College Drive, which will take you through a residential area and dead-ends at the campus. Meet at Parking Lot 4 near the soccer field.
